~ingredients:

  • 1.5 lb thinly sliced ribeye
  • 1 white onion
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 4 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp mirin
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 scallion
  • 1 tbsp neutral cooking oil

~instructions:

  1. Veggie prep: Slice a white onion into strips, and slice a scallion into thin strips on a bias. Mince the garlic.
  2. Marinade: Combine the minced garlic, soy sauce, mirin, brown sugar, and sesame oil.
  3. In a large bowl, add the white onion and beef slices. Pour over the marinade and mix well. You can either set aside to marinade for 30 minutes, or cook right away.
  4. When ready to cook, heat up a pan on medium-high heat.
  5. Add 1 tbsp of cooking oil and once hot, add in the marinated beef and onions.
  6. Spread the beef and onions evenly in the pan, and let it cook in one layer.
  7. After 2 minutes, the beef should be browned on one side. Using a pair of tongs, stir the beef and onions to continue cooking until the rest of the beef is browned.
  8. When the beef is done, turn off the heat and top with green onion.
  9. Serve over rice, and enjoy!
