  • 1 inch piece of ginger
  • 2 tbsp toban djan (chili bean sauce)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp white pepper
  • 2 cup water (or stock)
    • if using water, add 1 tbsp chicken bouillon
  • 1-2 green onion

  1. Mince the garlic, shallot, and ginger
  2. Dice the green onion, separate whites and green
  3. Cut tofu into 1 inch cubes
  4. Oil your pan and heat up on medium-high heat.
  5. Once the pan is hot (oil should shimmer, and not smoke), throw in garlic, shallot, and ginger. Toast for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Add in ground pork, break it up into smaller pieces, and season with 1 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp white pepper.
  7. Continue stirring, until the pork is cooked about 80% of the way.
  8. Add in the 2 tbsp toban djan (chili bean sauce), and mix into the ground pork
  9. Add 2 cups of water (or stock), and 1 tsp chicken bouillon (if using just water).
  10. Stir, and let come to a boil. Throw in the white parts of the green onion.
  11. Once it boils, lower the heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
  12. Throw in the soft tofu, and simmer for another 5 minutes.
  13. Top with green onion, serve with rice, and enjoy!
